Ana Muñoz

Ana Garcia-Muñoz, 83 years old, of Waukegan, gained her wings on June 20, 2023. Ana was born on May 10, 1940, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She was the proud daughter of Quintin Garcia and Juana Pagan.
Ana Munoz was an overly loving person who would always try her best to make everyone around her happy. Ana was an amazing person with the heart of gold. She will always be forever deeply missed. We will never forget her. Everyone called her Wela, that's what she wanted, and the name suits her well. She was a really funny person. She was amazing at everything she did, especially cooking. She had the best dishes.

Ana is now at peace and no longer suffering. We know she’s in a better place now, a place where she isn’t in pain anymore, a place where she is happy.

Left to honor her legacy, are her children Mirta Vargas and Ana Vargas-Reyes; grandchildren, Grisel Flores, Andrew Lozada, Mirna Santiago, Joel Santiago, Melvin Santiago, Jovanny Santiago and Joshua Reyes; numerous great grand children & great great grand children who adored her dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Muñoz; and both parents, Quintin Garcia and Juana Pagan.

“Te quiero mucho Wela. We will see each other again someday. I wish you didn’t have to go. Wela even though you are no longer here. You taught us so much about life and your stories will always remain with us. Your memories will stick by our sides no matter how much time flies. I hope you're okay and in a better place, somewhere as loving and sweet as your soul.”

Friends and family are welcomed to celebrate Wela’s life on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at The Memorial Chapel of Waukegan, 1521 Washington Street, Waukegan, IL 60085. Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 1st, 2023 from 10:30 am - 11:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 508 Grand Avenue, Waukegan, IL 60085. Family and friends are invited to a private repast from 12 noon - 4:00 pm, at Calibar, 3059 Washington Street, Waukegan, IL 60085.

Inurnment will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 12 noon at Ascension Catholic Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Road, Libertyville, IL 60048.
