Argumeda "Gema" Hernandez

Argumeda “Gema” Hernandez, 72, of Waukegan passed away on January 25, 2019. Gema was born in Tejupilco, Mexico to Vicente and Esperanza Hernandez. She moved from Mexico in 1978 and remained a lifelong area resident since.

Gema was an amazing cook, always made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She was very strict but was always willing to help anyone in need, in any way possible.

Gema is survived by three sons and one daughter, Mario H., Manuel “Manny” H., Eduardo B., Leticia B.; nine grandchildren, Mario, Daniel, Zayden, Juan, Eduardo, Carmen Guadalupe, Eduardo Jr., Leticia, Jose Luis; extended family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Juan B.

Gema’s visitation will be held from 4:00-9:00 pm on Friday, February 1, 2019 at The Memorial Chapel of Waukegan, 1521 Washington St. Waukegan, IL 60085. A second visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Ave. Waukegan, IL 60087, with funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 am.
