Miguel Albarran Sr. Obituary (2023)

Miguel Angel Albarran Sr., age 85, ascended to heaven on the evening of December 9th, 2023. Miguel was born in Arecibo Puerto Rico on August 9th, 1938 to Felicito & Juanita Albarran. He spent much of his life living in Waukegan, Illinois, where he went on to do great things, built strong connections and found love in always taking care of others. Miguel was a Police Officer for many years and continued helping the community by working in The Department of Public Works later on. He loved to fish, to tell jokes, and baseball. Miguel had furthered his community by founding the sports committee at the Puerto Rican Society, where many baseball games were won. Miguel “Mike” Albarran founded the Roberto Clemente Baseball League with Mike being the coach of the Waukegan Warrior’s. Miguel had a love for music that was so profound. Mike loved boxing. So in his community he made sure to teach the youth baseball and boxing to keep them off the streets. Miguel Sr. leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years Gloria, daughter Martha, son Miguel Jr. (Linda), son Sarkis (Rachel), son Albertico (Lisa), son Adrian, daughter Melisa (Joejoe), daughter Maritza, son Miguel IV (Caroline) , great granddaughter Ivelisse, great grandson Sonny brother Osvaldo Albarran and sister Yolanda Albarran and a whole host of 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Miguel is preceded in death by his parents Felicito and Juanita Albarran brother Felix Albarran sister Margarita Sanchez grandson Miguel Albarran III granddaughter Gloria Martinez and great grandson Eddie Berrios Jr. Miguel, “Papi” to his loved ones, would always say he was “blessed to have all these kids”. He was and will remain cherished by his family. His funeral services will be on Thursday December 21st, 2023, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM last viewing 11:00 AM-12:00 PM Service at Jesus Name Apostolic Church - 150 S Genesee Street Waukegan, IL, 60085.
