Panagiota "Peggy" Mantis Obituary (1925

Panagiota “Peggy” Mantis, 89, of Waukegan, IL passed away peacefully at Vista Medical Center East on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Panagiota was born December 20, 1925 in Logga, Greece to Stavroula & Dimosthenis Eliopoulos and moved to Waukegan, IL in 1967. She was united in marriage to Alex Mantis on May 4, 1952. Panagiota was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her biggest joys in life were seeing her family members together, laughing and eating. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 63 years, Alex, her children Greg (Pam) Mantis and Popi (Angelo) Tzavaras, her grandchildren, Kosta (Betsy) Tzavaras, Alexi (Amy Jonen) Tzavaras, Lena (Paul) Rosenthal, and Alexi Mantis and great-grandchildren, Penelope & Angelo Tzavaras and Olivia & Dean Rosenthal. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 7 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 9-11 am at St Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1400 N. O’Plaine Road, Libertyville, IL with services beginning at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow at New Gracanica Cemetery 35240 N Grant Avenue, Lake Villa, IL 60046. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Panagiota’s memory.
