Stephen J. Werenski

–

Waukegan, Illinois

Stephen J. Werenski, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Journey Care Hospice in Barrington. Steve was born on November 21, 1944 in Waukegan.
He was the only child born to the late Marjorie and Stephen Werenski, and was the beloved husband of Opal Werenski, for 54 years.
Steve worked for Hansen (later Mercer) in Lake Bluff for 30 years.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Steve will forever be remembered by his loving children, Kristina (Eric) and Heather (Tom); treasured grandchildren Athena, Tommy and Lucas, along with countless others who were blessed to call him uncle, cousin, friend, colleague or a second dad.
He loved fishing, bowling, golf, poker and his many fantasy sports leagues. Some may remember him as the infamous Dr. Bowl. But most of all, his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren, who equally loved their time with “Papa”.
Steve touched the lives of many with his kind heart, sense of humor and his encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly.
